The day we have all been waiting for is finally here! The Masterpieces by Hanneke video is LIVE!
Carnations old-fashioned? Not if you ask Madita! As the creative mind behind Grace and Flowers, she truly puts carnations in the spotlight with her romantic and light style. Perfectly aligned with her personal style as a florist—a perfect match indeed!
Get inspired by her unique creations and discover how the carnation once again becomes the star of every arrangement. It's time to surprise everyone with this stylish comeback!
Madita is a big fan of texture, and carnations, with their fringed petals, make her heart skip a beat. Through her creations, she wants to convince others that carnations are far from outdated. And she’s succeeded!
This first creation combines a timeless look with a trendy theme: bows. The deep red carnations, paired with red ribbons, contrast beautifully against an entirely white mantelpiece. Madita added candles and a ‘Merry Christmas’ banner for the finishing touch.
In this floral arrangement, Madita chose a single colour of carnations to truly showcase them. Strongly inspired by fashion, especially textures and ruffles, this is clearly reflected in her work.
For a bit more variation, it’s best to stick with two colours. Originally, Madita planned this two-tone arrangement with another variety, but "Hypnosis" truly hypnotised her. With its soft, delicate petals in two colours, she couldn’t resist!
Carnations are often used to create a sleek look, but Madita wanted to show them in a romantic context. The decorated candelabra with three candles provides a nostalgic, classic feel with a romantic twist.
The inspiration for this arrangement comes from the ‘croquembouche’, a French wedding cake tower. Madita encountered this cake at a wedding in France, and the carnations reminded her of these delicious cream-filled pastries with their shape and size.
The combination of candles, Christmas ornaments in matching tones, and a smaller tree filled with greenery completes the festive Christmas look.
Due to the shape of the flower, the light appearance of the carnation can sometimes be lost. That’s why Madita decided to remove the centre of the carnations in this bouquet. This gives them an entirely different look, almost comparable to a lisianthus or Butterfly Ranunculus but with the advantages of a carnation. It makes the flowers appear to dance, as they look lighter and more delicate.
This creation exudes classic elegance, but the use of soft tones like beige, pale yellow, and soft pink creates a harmonious whole. The addition of orchids and a gold ribbon gives the bouquet a refined, luxurious look.
In this arrangement, various flowers and ornaments were used, but the carnation remains the absolute star. Madita incorporated an orange poinsettia, a silk bow, candles, and Christmas baubles. Because almost all materials are in the same soft orange and pink tones, the carnations remain the prominent focus of this creation.
This impressive hanging arrangement is a true WOW-factor. It’s an artistic creation, perfect for weddings and events, and it pairs beautifully with one of the aforementioned table decorations. Choose carnations in matching shades to make the flowers shine even more.
Her biggest challenge was at some point saying: "You've taken enough photos now." She could photograph every single carnation individually, so fascinated was she. Take the Viper Wine, for example, with its delicate colour accents. Each flower is like a painting in itself.
