Rugby ball with chrysanthemums spotted in Paris

Thursday 07 September 2023

The Rugby World Cup will kick off in France on 8 September. Prior to that, a huge rugby ball with over 6,000 chrysanthemums parades past the most beautiful spots in Paris.

The huge rugby ball is lit up with over 6,000 white and green chrysanthemums. Paris-based event florist Damien Da Rocha has had Paris brightened up before. Last year, he was the florist who erected a red and pink floral heart in Paris for the #lovenotwar campaign.

Da Rocha loves these big, colourful and vibrant flowers:

"They lend themselves perfectly to this kind of arrangement. They are beautiful and robust, easy to work with and the wide choice of colours, shapes and sizes means they always adapt to our bold planning and creations."

In sport, you see connection and emotion and that is very important. Rugby, as in all English-speaking countries, is very big in France. And now that the World Cup is taking place in France, the sport is totally alive.

The chrysanthemums were made available by the Chryson Foundation, an alliance of chrysanthemum growers and breeders who jointly run the 'Just Chrysanthemum For the Win' campaign. With this campaign, the growers emphasise that with a chrysanthemum, you have a flower in your hands, with which you can score with customers through colour, volume, variation, shelf life and applicability, among other things.
